RSS

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  It provides a way to aggregate sites and topics that you like to view and read about into a single place.  If you subscribe to RSS feeds, they will allow you to know when a new post or update has been made, so that you can then view the post without having to continuously check for new information.

If a page has RSS set up, there will usually be an icon in the address bar.  Often, there also will be buttons in the body of the page that allow you to subscribe to the page.

I subscribed to the Google feed sports bundle.

I think the recommendations feature on the Google feed could be a good feature because as you subscribe to more feeds it will show you more that could be subscribed to that might meet your interests.  You might discover things you would never know about without it being recommended.  The interface is pretty user friendly.

I selected the Mercury News baseball feed.

I was able to find the feeds for all of the other sites except for infotangle.blogsome.com which the page would not load for me.  For all of the other sites the button to subscribe to the fields were in the top or bottom bars, or the side menu bar.  I did not subscribe to any of the feeds

Flickr

Here is my flickr address: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24934189@N05/

i enjoy looking at flickr photos.  I have not posted any pictures myself on Flickr but I know a lot of people who do use it.  It is a really good way to view a lot of related pictures in one place if you are looking for pictures related to a certain subject.  It is also a nice way to share pictures with friends, family, and anyone else.  I use Facebook to post pictures, or I will e-mail certain pictures to people, but Flickr is definitely something i will consider to use to share photos since not everyone has Facebook and it's a lot easier to post photos to one site then to send out a bunch of e-mails with a few pictures.

Introduction

1.  I have used blogger before, for another class, so the layout is familiar to me.  When I first started using it, it took some getting used to, but for this blog it was easy.

2.  I only changed the colors and design of the blog, using their preset layout options.

3.  I think blogging can be a good way to share thoughts with other people, but I don't see myself doing it outside of the class.  I took a class that required us to blog our thoughts on reading we had to do, and I haven't done any other blogging besides that.

4.  The example blogs provide a good look at all of the different ways that you can set up and use a blog.  The "be hear be now"blog is a little bit hard to look at because of the black background and white font.  The Ten thousand days is probably the only one of the examples that I would continue reading, but probably not for very long, none really grabbed my attention too much.
